Doula is a Greek word that means, "a woman who serves." I am a certified birth doula through DONA (dona.org-certification board), practicing for eight years in the Chicago land area. Through my own powerful and positive birthing experience in London, England became the catalyst to becoming a birth doula. Upon returning to the States on 9/11/2001 it was apparent that there was a gap in how moms in the US were given information, and how information was disseminated in the UK. It was due to this gap that I felt drawn to become a certified birth doula to support and educate women.
My goals are: advocacy for the mom and her wishes, and to support her partner and family members. (I have even gone on coffee runs for those waiting in the waiting rooms!)
Most importantly, I work in partnership with the medical team in the room.
You don't know me personally, but please see what people say under testimonials.
